☐ DECLUTTER – Remove clutter from floors, coffee tables, and other horizontal surfaces in each room before you start cleaning.
☐ CEILING CORNERS, DOOR + WINDOW MOLDINGS – Throw a cleaning cloth over your broom head to remove cobwebs; use a damp* microfiber cloth to clean.
☐ CEILING FANS – One at a time, cover fan blades with a pillowcase; hold your hands on top and below each fan as you pull the pillowcase towards you. Shake the pillowcase outdoors.
☐ CEILING + WALL LIGHT FIXTURES – Remove and hand wash in warm, sudsy water, then rinse and dry – or wash in your dishwasher; wipe cool, bare, bulbs with a damp* microfiber cloth.
☐ SMOKE + CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS – Remove and wipe covers with a damp* microfiber cloth; vacuum interior and replace batteries.
☐ CHANGE FURNACE/AIR CONDITIONING FILTERS – If you remove and hold the filter up and you can’t see light through it, it needs to be replaced; mark the new one with today’s date so you know when it was last changed.
☐ MIRRORS, FRAMED WALL HANGINGS + OTHER WALL ART – Spritz water on a microfiber cloth and use to wipe down.
☐ LIGHT SWITCHES + DOOR KNOBS – Wipe with a damp* microfiber cloth to remove dirty smudges, fingerprints, and germs.
☐ CURTAINS – Remove and shake out curtains; wash or dry clean if needed. Vacuum heavy drapes with upholstery attachment.
☐ WINDOW BLINDS – Vacuum with dust brush attachment. Dip a microfiber cloth in a mixture of water and vinegar, wring it out and then wrap it around your hand like a mitten; run your thumb and forefinger along the top and bottom of each blind.
☐ WINDOWS – Vacuum window sills and sashes with dust brush attachment; remove pet prints and fingerprints with a damp microfiber cloth designed for cleaning glass, then wipe windowsill if needed with a damp* microfiber cloth.
☐ BASEBOARDS – Use vacuum dust brush attachment or broom to remove dust; follow up with damp* microfiber cloth if needed. Remove scuff marks from semi-glossy or glossy painted surfaces with a damp magic-eraser type sponge.
☐ CARPET EDGES + CORNERS – Use the vacuum crevice tool to remove dust and debris (do the same with edges and corners of hard floors).
☐ DEEP CLEAN CARPETS – Rent a carpet cleaning machine (vacuum first!) or hire a professional carpet cleaner to remove dirt embedded in your carpet and reduce allergens.
☐ HARD FLOORS – Vacuum, then damp mop.
Now, about that reward...
